Meet Our Providers

Jennifer White-Slough, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Owner, Nurse Practitioner Family Medicine

Since 2008 I have been serving the Manhattan and Wamego communities.  I am Family Medicine trained and have cared for patients from birth to death throughout my career as a Nurse Practitioner.

I graduated from Stafford High School in Stafford, Kansas. I have an Undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University in Family Studies and Human Services. My background also houses an Undergraduate Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Missouri Western State University, as well as a Masters of Nursing: Family Nurse Practitioner Degree from Fort Hays State University. I am Board Certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

My husband, Galen, and I have four children together and are raising our children in the Rock Creek School District. I am the blessed Step-Mom of my husband’s son who attends Manhattan Catholic School. We are members of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Flush. I look forward to caring for you and your loved ones!

Galen Slough, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Owner, Nurse Practitioner Family Medicine

Galen Slough is a Family Nurse Practitioner and co-owner of Prairie Winds Family Care with his wife Jennifer. In addition to working as a Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Medicine, Galen fulfills the administrative and financial role here at PWFC. Galen and Jennifer have joined their skill set of business management and patient care to bring their vision of quality, patient-centered, accessible health care to Wamego and the surrounding communities.

Along with business management skills, Galen has an extensive resume in the medical field that began while working in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) as a Paramedic, then Captain for Pottawatomie County EMS. He advanced his career by becoming a Registered Nurse then earned his Master’s in Nursing from Simmons University in Boston, Massachusetts to be a Family Nurse Practitioner. When not working and helping Jennifer manage their busy household with five children, Galen enjoys hunting, fishing and spending time with friends and family. Galen is available to see patients as needed by request. 

Jayne Gunn

Jayne Gunn, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Nurse Practitioner Family Medicine

Jayne Gunn is a board certified family nurse practitioner. Her background includes acute care, urgent care and emergency medicine in rural healthcare settings. Jayne graduated with honors from Washburn University where she earned her Bachelors and Masters in Nursing. She brings a wide array of nursing experience and professional education to diagnose and treat any illness while focusing on prevention, wellness and education. She has over 34 years of clinical experience and has a strong passion for promoting wellness and patient education. 

Jayne hails from Clyde, KS where she graduated from Clifton-Clyde High school. She has lived in the Manhattan area since moving there to attend Kansas State University following high school graduation. She and her husband Kevin have 5 children and 10 grandchildren who are the center of their circle in life. Jayne enjoys spending time with family and friends, biking and staying active. On her days off, you will likely find her in her craft room crafting and quilting or in the Gunn shop making signs or building furniture. 

 

 

Stephanie Duncan

Stephanie Duncan, DNP, APRN, FNP-C

Nurse Practitioner Family Medicine

Stephanie is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice through Fort Hays State University. She received her Bachelor of Science in Public Health Nutrition from Kansas State University and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Bethel College. Stephanie has experience in women’s health, college health, family practice and was a labor and delivery nurse.

Stephanie was raised in Mulvane, Kansas. She met her husband at Kansas State University where they graduated and then moved to Westmoreland, Kansas. They live on their family farm with their three beautiful children. She loves spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, watching sports, and cheering on K-State. 

Judy Bunting, DNP, APRN, FNP-C,

PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner 

Judy Bunting is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Judy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Bowling Green State University/Medical College of Ohio School of Nursing, her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Post-Master’s Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Certificate from Washburn University School of Nursing, as well as her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Kansas School of Nursing. She is Nationally Board Certified as a FNP and PMHNP through the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and American Nurses Credentialing Center, respectively. Judy is an Army veteran having served four years active duty in the Army Nurse Corps and seven years in the Army Reserve. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, church, and yoga several times a week. 

Judy has years of experience as a PMHNP and specializes in psychiatric care across the lifespan for those who struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, Bipolar and Schizophrenia spectrum disorders. She provides medication management intertwined with practical therapeutic approaches. Her philosophy is each of us is a unique individual born with intrinsic value and many talents. A mental health issue does not define a person. 

 

Jody Toerber-Clark

Jody Toerber-Clark, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Jody has worked in healthcare for over 25 years. She earned her BSN from Fort Hays State University, her MSN, FNP from the Medical College of Ohio, and her DNP in 2015. She worked as a NP in a community mental health center. She also started the primary care clinic that she expanded to a satellite clinic and then a home visiting program for the severely mentally ill. She served in the Kansas National Guard as an NP and worked in several clinics and locations at Fort Riley and the surrounding Wamego area. Concurrently, she is also an Assistant Professor at Washburn University educating future NPs.

 

 

Katy Tajchman, LSCSW

LCSW

Katy Tajchman is a licensed Clinical Social Worker. She has experience studying the resiliency of black, elderly women in Louisiana as an undergrad research assistant which produced a publication. She has experience of working in community mental health while also working in the ER initiating mental health screens. Her 26 years of being a mom has led her to focus on the unique needs of women in motherhood. She is certified in Maternal Mental Health and has close to 10 years of clinical experience. Since 2017 she has worked in conjunction with The Women’s Health Group in Manhattan. She has spent the last five years focused on working with moms and women of all ages. Since 2020 she has been in private practice. She also has training in Perinatal Loss, along with Grief and Complicating Factors. She loves working with women reflecting on their own strengths to overcome their challenges.

Katy grew up in McPherson, KS, graduating from McPherson High School. While she was raising her children, she was finishing up college in a non-traditional role. She was blessed with four children, Madison, Denton, Malary, and Dawson. She graduated with her undergrad from Fort Hays State University and Master of Social Work from University of Kansas. She has spent the past 20 years attending baseball, football, and volleyball games of her children and family events. She is now changing what her free time looks like as her youngest recently graduated from high school. She enjoys exercising, gardening, and spending time with family.
